Profe Deborah
Deb has been teaching in a school classroom setting for the past 15 years and has a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She has taught Spanish classes for students from Kindergarten through high school age. She believes that communication is the key to all relationships and learning to communicate in a new language opens so many doors! She seeks to develop her learner's confidence and curiosity while fostering a love for learning Spanish.
Growing up, Deb's first opportunity to learn Spanish came in a high school Spanish class. She loved taking the books home and practicing the new words and pronunciation. An interest in Spanish was sparked but she didn't have a lot of opportunities to use the language. A few years later, in college, she met Cesar who was in the United States with a student visa. He was from Peru and spending time with him provided many opportunities to practice Spanish. They got married and moved to Tennessee to work within the Spanish community. Deb was completely immersed in a Spanish speaking world. Almost everyone she met spoke Spanish. Her language skills began to blossom. She started listening and processing and within a year she was able to hold complex conversations. Since then she has continued to study and learn. She loves to see children develop their language skills and build bridges of communication to make new friends and relationships!
